Thesis-MAP

This week I was assigned to map out my ideal customer process. But before this, I want to refine the challenge I’m solving and set a long-term goal for my thesis project.

Challenge

“The bigger the challenge, the better the sprint.”

My topic is intimacy in the digital age. In fact, with the development of technology, everything becomes within reach. But at the same time, people always feel isolated.

Start from the end

After talking with my thesis advisor, we agreed that I should focus on the after match part. Here are some reasons:
• The matching part is a must for every dating app, the competition is fierce. But the after match part is often ignored.
• One of the concerns about the dating app is people feel not safe. People don’t know the true identity of the other person before meeting offline, or they cannot verify the authenticity of what did other say. Between the match and the offline date, a short virtual date is like a sample snake, helping people feel comfortable with each other.

Although we’ve remedied the problem of where to meet people, we haven’t really made it easier to find love.

My Concern

  • Can AR break the boundary between offline and online dating?
  • Will they engage the virtual dating and have a good time?
  • How can I design to let people feel comfortable and willing to share?
  • How to balance technology and human interaction to give users what they want and deliver the best experience?
  • Are there potential ethical issues? Safety, trust, privacy, racism…
  • Keep in mind of different sexual orientation
  • Respect of different culture
